Don't replace your receptionist. Back her up.
A lot of AI receptionist companies open their pitch with a number: what you'd save by cutting your front desk. We think that's the wrong pitch for a service business, and usually the wrong decision.
Your office manager knows the customers. She knows which crew to send, which homeowner is difficult, which supplier is late. No agent learns that in a week. What an agent can do is be there when she can't: overflow, lunch, sick days, after hours, the storm surge. That's most of the calls you're missing, and it's the part of the job nobody wants anyway.
The right shape
Your team first, every time. The backup only picks up when they can't. Every call, human or AI, gets logged, transcribed and graded, so you finally see the whole phone instead of the half that happened to get answered. Your office manager gets a coaching agent and a lighter load. You get a calendar that fills at 2am.
Why this matters for quality
An agent that's meant to replace a person has to handle everything, so it guesses. An agent that's meant to back a person up can be honest: it handles what you approved, and takes a message for the rest. That's how you get an AI that customers don't mind talking to.
